I write to you because I need your help and I am out of ideas.For example, last Sunday my wife and I took the boys to a museum which we have been promising them to take them since they can remember. It is a short walk from our house so we thought it would be fun for us to take a stroll too. We arrived at the museum and my eldest son left the diaper bag on the bench at the entrance while we were paying for our tickets. We didn't have any diapers in there but printed on the bag is his name, Luis Carlos, and his date of birth, August 10th 1993. Luckily we had a little extra time and we managed to find it. However, the incident has left me thinking that there is no way I can trust him alone at that age. I am not saying he is a bad kid, he is not. He is a smart kid but there are too many things around him that can distract him from focusing on what is most important. At this age he will be going to kindergarten and my wife and I were talking about how we need to make sure they learn the alphabet before going because a little distraction or getting into mischief will mean they will learn nothing very important in the first few years of school. I have not had the courage to tell my wife but I think our kids need to start school at home, meaning they will be taught at home all subjects they are learning in school. This way they won't have the temptation of getting into trouble or being distracted by their friends. As to what should I do about this situation, I don't know how to deal with this one. I asked my wife and she said it was common knowledge that it is very difficult for an infant to learn if they are not in school. My wife's sister even told me that her niece started the same age without the benefit of schooling at home and that she had a long way to go when she was finally able to start school. So there you have it, my two cents on the matter... My wife is happy with our decision but my kids are getting restless because they are starting to notice there are no classes at home.
